ISLAMABAD, August 17: A report on the health of Pakistan’s former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has been submitted to the Supreme Court by the superintendent of Adiala Jail.
According to the report, doctors prescribed medicines for Imran Khan on August 10, 2026. The doctors prescribed medicines for dilation of blood vessels, blood pressure and to reduce anxiety.
The report states that the PTI founder’s teeth were examined on November 4, 2023. Dr Wasim Aziz recommended dental filling.
For shoulder pain, a neurosurgeon recommended physiotherapy. On November 18, 2023, neurosurgeon Dr Qasim examined the left shoulder again and advised warm compress and to continue treatment.
On November 24, 2023, Imran Khan’s dental filling was completed and scaling and polishing were advised. On December 1, 2023, nicotine stains were removed from the teeth and polishing was completed.
On December 21, 2023, an orthopedic surgeon diagnosed inflammation in the thigh muscles and advised to avoid adduction.
On March 3, 2024, there was a complaint of eye allergy and Dr Maria Zubair prescribed treatment. On March 8, 2024, improvement in the eye condition was recorded and CST was advised for two days.
On April 18, 2024, an ENT consultant diagnosed ringing and blockage in the ear. On April 20, 2024, an ENT surgeon cleaned Imran Khan’s ear and started treatment on suspicion of mild hearing loss. On April 23, 2024, ringing in both ears and reduced hearing was confirmed and a PTA test of the ears was conducted.
On August 24, 2024, a medical board conducted complete blood tests of PTI founder. All reports were normal and medicines were prescribed for ringing in the ears.
On October 3, 2024, an ENT professor diagnosed ringing in the ears due to noise. Tablets were prescribed for the treatment of the ears and the founder was advised to avoid loud sounds.
On October 15, 2024, the PTI founder complained of indigestion and blocked ears. On the same day, blood pressure was recorded as 160/90, pulse 59 and oxygen saturation 99 percent.
On October 29 and November 4, 2024, cardiac and medicine boards examined him again. Blood tests were normal and treatment for blockage in ear and nose was started.
On December 30, 2024, Imran Khan complained of dizziness. Vitamin medicines were prescribed and vitals remained stable.
On March 3, 2025, a medical board noted intermittent indigestion and continuous ringing in the ears. Medicine and comfortable shoes were recommended for corns on the feet. On April 3, 2025, corns were diagnosed on the right sole and medicine and dental filling were advised.
On August 12, 2025, both ears were cleaned and treatment for teeth and ears continued.
On August 29, 2025, due to complaint of reduced vision in the right eye, glasses and eye drops were prescribed.
On January 16, 2026, there was suspicion of deterioration of the retina in the right eye and pressure was also high. On January 19, 2026, scanning of the eyes confirmed deterioration of the retina and immediate anti-VEGF injections were recommended to Imran Khan.
On February 2, 2026, after the first anti-VEGF injection, vision improved. The second dose of anti-VEGF was recommended after four weeks. There was a slight increase in cholesterol.
On February 15, 2026, a medical board re-examined the founder’s eye. Macular thickness decreased from 550 to 350 and vision partially improved from 6/36 to 6/6.
On March 3, 2026, macular thickness of the right eye was 261, vision in the right eye was 6/9 and in the left eye 6/6. On March 18, 2026, vision in the right eye was partially 6/6 and in the left eye 6/6. Imran Khan’s vision started improving and anti-VEGF injection doses were given according to schedule.
On April 15, 2026, there were fluctuations in vision; the fourth injection was given and scanning was recommended. On May 19, 2026, vision was partially 6/6 and the number of spots in the eyes reduced to 2. A fifth anti-VEGF was recommended for the founder’s eye.
On July 10, 2026, as vision improved, instructions were given to continue treatment.
On August 1, 2026, Imran Khan’s cardiac examination showed blood pressure 140/100, along with complaints of palpitations and anxiety. Increasing family meetings and time to read newspapers and watch TV was recommended.
On August 10, 2026, a fresh combined cardiac and eye examination was conducted. Blood pressure was recorded as 140/80. The founder felt more anxiety during the examination. A daily one-hour walk and more family time were recommended.
