PTI leader sees rocketing inflation behind KP LG polls “defeat”

PESHAWAR: Increasing inflation is behind the “defeat” of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local bodies elections, admitted adviser to CM KP Shaukat Yousafzai on Monday. 

Talking to newsmen outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly before the Senate election on the vacant seat from the province, Shaukat Yousafzai said Prime Minister Imran Khan is aware of increasing inflation. “Winning and defeat is part of life, we are facing tough times due to rocketing inflation,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said despite being in the power, the PTI government of KP did not rig the polls.

He said that the government trying hard to control the inflation and the situation will be stable within two to three months.

The counting of votes in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for local government elections is underway.

According to the unofficial and unconfirmed results of 31 Tehsil chairman seats, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) are in a tough contest as both the parties have grabbed 10 seats of chairmen. Independent candidates have got five seats. ANP three, PML-N two and JI has managed to grab a single chairman seat.

So far two results of Mayor elections have also been announced according to the unconfirmed and unofficial results. JUI-F won the Kohat Mayorship seat, while ANP won the Mayor seat from Mardan.
