PTI stands by its decision to boycott Erdogan’s parliament address

ISLAMABAD: Despite a request by Turkish Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin to reconsider its decision, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said reiterated on Tuesday that his party would boycott Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address to a joint session of the parliament this week.
Talking to media representatives after PTI leaders joined their heads in a meeting to deliberate over the Turkish ambassador’s request, under the current circumstances, Khan said it was not possible for his party to be a part of the parliament’s session.
Earlier Khan had hinted that PTI may reassess its decision on the request of the Turkish ambassador.

A PTI’s delegation had called on the Turkish ambassador on Monday afternoon in a bid to explain the party’s decision to boycott the Turkish president’s address to a joint sitting during which the ambassador made the request.
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan is visiting Pakistan on November 16-17 on the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain. He is also scheduled to address a joint session of the parliament.
Commenting on the Panamagate hearing at the Supreme Court today, Chairman PTI said, “In order to save one lie, you get yourself trapped in a situation of creating many more lies.”
He said the Panamagate case would now find its connections in Qatar now and later, the case would find its strings attached to the Mayfair apartments in London.
Khan reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have resigned seven months back for his accountability in the case.
