PTI to lodge case against Sharif brothers, Nisar over crackdown

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to lodge a case over the crackdown on its activists ahead of the lockdown on November 2, and the tear-gas shelling on the convoy on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

The PTI will register a case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Inspector General Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

Pervez Khattak and other provincial ministers on Saturday met with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at his residence in Bani Gala where the decision was made to lodge a First Inquiry Report (FIR) against them.

The party claims that Khattak was subject to brutal state-sponsored repression and crackdown as he attempted to come to Islamabad to participate in the protest.

Khattak had faced immense resistance between October 31 and November 1 at the Burhan interchange and the Haroonabad bridge as he arrived to go to Islamabad. All the roads leading to the federal capital were blocked by containers and other impediments to stop them.

Police and Frontier Constabulary resorted to tear-gas shelling to disperse protesters and stop them from moving forward. Khattak was forced to retreat back to Swabi on the advice on Imran Khan.

The PTI had called it a grave threat to the federation and a violation of the constitution. Imran Khan has said that it was a pity on how a chief minister was being targeted by the Punjab government.
