PTI workers protest continue on third day at Bani Gala

ISLAMABAD: The agitated workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continued protest for the third consecutive day outside PTI’s Chairman, Imran Khan’s Banigala residence on Wednesday against suspected undeserved distribution of party tickets for general elections.

According to workers, it was expected that party’s parliamentary board will reevaluate some applications and announce their decision. However, nothing has been done nor declared so far. Dissatisfied party workers have been protesting for the last 3 days at Bani Gala, outside Imran’s residence, showing displeasure over the distribution of party tickets to wrong people and also demanding party tickets for their groups. They wish to leave only after the board’s decisions.

PTI workers from Multan rejected the party decision of awarding the party ticket of NA-154 to Sikandar Bosan, because he had joined PTI  recently, which means he has not been in the party for long time nor he has served the party. Similarly workers from NA-51, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Battagram, Swabi and Karak are also speaking against the award of tickets.

PTI workers expressed their feelings, they suspected that party leadership neglected ideological workers at the time of allotting tickets. As per them, they never blackmailed Imran, fairly they used only the serene way that has been taught to them by Imran himself.

Earlier, the party delayed the announcement of candidates for remaining constituencies for 72 hours.

A meeting of the party’s parliamentary board was also held on Tuesday. The members are scheduled to announce the new candidates after three days.

Since, PTI chief failed on Monday to mollify protesting party workers regardless of oath that he will review the party’s decisions.

According to Imran, the decision for awarding tickets was taken by the parliamentary members of the party on the basis of merit. Furthermore, he added that he would not be forced to change his decision on the basis of pressure.

Imran then recommended the workers to submit review petitions, adding that he will sit with the party’s board and review the decisions in the next three days.
