Punjab schools reopen after summer vacation

LAHORE: Schools across Punjab reopened on Monday after the summer vacation, marking the resumption of the new academic term.

Educational activities have resumed at both government and private schools across the province following the end of the extended summer break.

With schools reopening, routine academic activities have also returned to educational institutions, while student attendance remained relatively low on the first day.

Parents were seen making arrangements to send their children back to school as the academic routine resumed across the province.

Schools throughout Punjab have now reopened and resumed normal operations following the summer holidays.

Earlier, the Punjab government decided against extending the summer vacation.

Secretary Schools Mudassar Riaz said no decision had been taken to extend the holidays and urged parents not to pay heed to rumours regarding a possible extension.

He confirmed that all public and private schools in Punjab would resume classes on Aug 24 according to the announced schedule.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government, last week, directed all public schools to implement the Pre-Smog Action Plan 2026 while organising sports activities for students to protect them from hazardous air pollution during the smog season across the province.

The School Education Department directed all public schools to implement the action plan and take preventive measures to protect students from smog.

According to a notification, the instructions have been issued in line with the Pre-Smog Action Plan 2026 for July-September 2026, prepared under the direction of the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency.
