DOHA, QATAR: Qatar has officially announced it will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, in response to a recent Israeli airstrike on Doha targeting Hamas officials in the Qatari capital, ARY News reported.
The Arab-Islamic summit will commence on September 14 and 15, 2025, and aims to form a collaborative regional viewpoint on the incident and its wider consequences.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an introductory meeting of foreign ministers will take place on September 13, before the main summit.
The schedule will focus on the Israeli strike on Doha, which caused the deaths of five Hamas members and one Qatari security officer. The deceased were important helpers to Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya.
Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated that the attack was against international law and called it “state terror.” He emphasised the importance of countries working together in response and indicated that Qatar is talking with Arab and Islamic countries regarding this issue.
The Arab-Islamic summit is likely to address key concerns, including the legal and diplomatic consequences of the Israeli strike on Doha, the future of Qatar’s intermediary role in Gaza ceasefire discussions, and regional strategies to prevent further Israeli aggression.
This decision comes because things are getting tense right now, and Qatar is working harder to talk with other countries, to join meetings at the United Nations.
