QUETTA: Five policemen embraced martyrdom while eight Frontier Corps personnel were injured after a series of blasts in Balochistan province’s Quetta city, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to ARY News correspondent, at least two terrorists attacked a FC checkpost in Mian Ghundi area of the Balochistan capital leaving eight security forces’ personnel injured.

The paramilitary troops had opened fire at the attackers, who detonated their explosives, wounding eight soldiers. Both the suicide bombers died.

About half an hour later a third bomber drove his motorcycle into a police truck on a road leading to the airport, killing at least five policemen.

No group or individual immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.

This is not the first time that terrorists have attacked security forces and law enforcement agencies in Quetta.

Back in January, six people including five police officers were killed after a terrorist blew himself up on Zarghoon Road of the city.

In December 2017, a suicide attack on the city’s Bethel Memorial Methodist Church left at least nine people dead and 43 others injured. In November, a police officer lost his life in a gun attack on the city’s Nawan Kali area.

Gunmen kill 60 in attack on Quetta police training center

In one of the deadliest attacks in the city’s history, in October 2016, terrorists wearing suicide jackets killed at least 60 police cadets in an attack on Quetta’s police training center.

Five to six terrorists had stormed into the police training centre at Sariyab Road and targeted at least 60 security officials after taking them hostage under the cover of aerial fire.
