Four martyred, 12 injured as IED blast targets police van in Quetta

QUETTA: At least four policemen were martyred while 12 others were said to be injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the city’s Mini Market area on Monday, ARY News reported.
The blast occurred near an on-duty mobile of Rapid Response Group (RRG) of Police, parked near the vicinity.
The injured were shifted to the nearest hospital and were being given medical aid; two injured officials were battling life and death circumstances and are reported critical.
Speaking to ARY News the Home Minister Balochistan Mir Zia Lango said that the blast occurred near a police mobile stationed near the market and according to initial reports, the explosives were affixed or concealed.
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Khan Buzdar condemned the unfortunate incident and expressed grief on the martyrdom of the fallen.
CM Punjab expressed his heartfelt condolences towards the families of the martyrs and said that these incidents are an attempt to disrupt peace in the country.
“People from all walks of life have laid their lives on the line in the ongoing battle against terrorism and it is due to the sacrifices of those individuals that the country has found a way back to peace and prosperity,” said the Chief Minister.
“With unity, we can defeat the menace of terrorism and quash their ill resolve,” expressed Buzdar.
Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind also condemned the Quetta blast.
He said that he felt and shared the pain of the family and loved ones of those that were martyred in the line of duty.
He said that the nation stood united against terrorism.
“We will put up a united effort to defeat the ill willed terrorists and their evil ways,” added the advisor.
He also directed health authorities of the region to provide the best health facilities to the injured.
