The constituency, where the latest terror attack occurred, is NA-260.

DIG Javed Akbar Riaz said the Bomb Disposal Squad was collecting evidence to  ascertain nature of the blast. He said the blast was an attempt to sabotage  election.

A state of emergency has been declared in nearby hospitals where injured have been moved.

Police and rescue teams reached the blast site and shifted the deceased and the injured to a nearby medical facility.

It is the first terror attack to have struck the election day. Lately, in a deadliest attack on election campaigning, a suicide bomber killed more than 128 people at an election rally in Balochistan’s Mastung on July 13.

It is pertinent to note here that a prominent leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Haroon Bilour lost his life in a suicide blast in Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ANP leader was chairing a corner meeting as a part of his electoral campaign when the attack took place.
