Rail operations suspended after freight trains collision near Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Eight bogies of oil-supplying train overturned after colliding with another freight train near Bholari Railway Station, suspending countrywide railway movement on Saturday, ARY News reported.

Driver and fireman of the oil-supplying train reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.

Rescue Agencies after reaching the spot shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Giving details of the incident, Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) of the Railway department said that the track has been damaged in result of the collision and trains movement has been halted to avoid any possible mishap.

More than 150 tons of oil spilled all over the area after eight bogies derailed and overturned.

The DCO further said that two relief trains have been sent to the spot from Karachi and Kotri respectively to expedite the rescue operations.

Furthermore, he apprised media that it would take time to clear the affected track and restore railway movement. However, he did not mention how much time it would take.

Two departing trains – Shalimar Express and Awaami Express – from Karachi have been stopped at the city railway station.
