Met office predicts rainfall in Karachi, other parts of country

KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in Karachi and other parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
The metropolis is likely to receive rain today, which will bring down the mercury level on scale, said the Met office and added the temperature is expected to climb to a maximum of 32 degree Celsius during the day whereas the minimum temperature will remain at 27 Celsius.
It said that strong monsoon currents are penetrating eastern parts of the country and added a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.
It said that rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sarghoda, Faisalabad), Islamabad, Hazara, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, FATA, D.G Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, Sibbi, Zhob, Nasirabad, and Gilgit Baltistan within next 24 hours.
The Met office said that Punjab’s Kamra received 79 millimeter of rain yesterday, whereas Muree 17, Faisalabad 11, Islamabad (Z.P 09, Saidpur 06, Golra 03), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 03, Bokra 01).
Sindh’s Islamkot received 40 millimeter rain, Mithi 37, Nagarparkar 33, Chachoro 32, Mirpurkhas 52, Dali 05. Khuzdar received 30 millimeter rain, Saidu Sharif 29, Malamjabba 28, Kakul 18, Dir 06, Balakot 05, Parachinar, Lower Dir 01.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded in Sibbi at 45 degree Celsius, while Turbat, Dalbadin, Larkana, Sukkur and Dadu experienced 44 degree Centigrade.
