June 20 turned out to be the hottest day of 2015 with temperatures in some parts of Sindh nearing 50 degrees Celsius. The city of Jacobabad in northern Sindh had a high of 49 Celsius, Sibi in Balochistan 48 C, Nawabshah in interior Sindh 47 Celsius and Karachi also had its hottest day of the year at 44 C.
Electricity breakdowns torment people amidst extremely hot weather
The prime minister had ordered the power utilities to avoid power load shedding during Sehri, Iftari and Taraweeh prayers but the power bosses continue to carry out load-shedding across the country even the odd times of midnight.
Moreover, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that the system of power supply and transmission is outdated and the government was trying to upgrade it.

In Karachi, there was no-electricity in several parts of the city including Surjani Town, Keamari, Shah Faisal Colony. A spokesperson of K-Electric, however, has claimed that the issue of unannounced load shedding has been resolved. 
An angry mob barged into the office of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) to record their protest over the power outages. They chanted slogans against the authorities over unscheduled power outages in the city. 
On the other hand, several parts of Punjab’s capital city of Lahore remained in darkness while the loudspeakers, that were to be used for prayers call, were utilized for inciting the citizens to stage protests. 
Moreover, unannounced power outages are also being carried out in federal capital city of Islamabad and Punjab’s Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujrat cities.

Scorching Heatwave
An extreme heatwave passing through the country with maximum temperature as high as 48 degree Celsius according to the weather department reports.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted very hot and humid weather in most parts of Pakistan.
The mercury in Karachi has risen to 44 degrees.
However, rain-thundershower with dust storm is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara divisions while at isolated places in Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Mardan, Sargodha, Mirpurkhas divisions and upper FATA.
Bhakkar in southern Punjab remained the hottest city of the country during last 24 hours with 48 degree centigrade, NoorpurThal, Larkana, Moenjodaro, Bahawalnagar, Kot Addu, Jacobabad had 47 degree temperature and Rahim Yar Khan, Lasbella, Okara, Shorkot, Sibbi, Sukkur had a temperature of 46 degree Celsius.
The weather department has forecast very hot and dry weather for Karachi during next 24 hours with temperatures between 40 to 42 degree Celsius.
Sindh’s Jacobabad and Larkana districts will be the hottest places in Pakistan during the next 24 hours with temperature between 46 to 48 degree Celsius.
