In a letter written to Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad, High Commissioner for Human Rights, he said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zadari had taken notice of the barbaric violations of human rights carried out by Indian forces. He reminded that more than 45 people have been killed and over 300 have been injured in the restive region.
Malik said that the people of Kashmir were just demanding for the right to self-determination which was approved by the UN Security Council in 1948, and were gathering in support of the Burhan Wani who was killed by Indian forces. He said that such routine killings prove that there has Indian forces have not regard for human lives and their fundamental rights.
He said that this was not the first time that such killings had taken place but rather more than 120 people were killed by Indian forces in 2010. It is a painful tragedy that no concrete action was taken and no one was held accountable for these killings of innocent people of Kashmir.
He questioned why these killings were been overlooked and unnoticed by international bodies such as the United Nations Human Rights Council. “It is disappointing to note that the world has chosen to ignore these sheer violations just to oblige the India,” he wrote.
He urged the UN Human Rights Council to visit the region and initiate an investigation into the these killings and also that the General Assembly should stop the brutality by the Indian forces in Kashmir.
