Rohit Shetty’s team clarifies use of police stickers on cars after controversy

Rohit Shetty’s team has issued a clarification after reports alleged that the filmmaker was illegally using police stickers and flashing lights on his private vehicles.

The controversy emerged earlier this week, with claims that at least two of Shetty’s SUVs carried police-style markings – typically restricted for official law enforcement use under India’s Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The reports sparked concerns over potential misuse of authority.

Responding to the claims, Shetty’s spokesperson explained that the stickers were part of temporary security arrangements following a firing incident outside the director’s residence in February.

“Following the firing incident at Rohit Shetty’s residence, the police had implemented heightened security measures and provided protection. Identification stickers were placed during the initial phase which have now been discontinued,” the spokesperson said.

According to the statement, Shetty continues to remain under police protection, with two personnel currently deployed for his safety as authorities monitor the situation.

“At present, Rohit Shetty continues to remain under police security… We extend our sincere appreciation to the Mumbai Police for their steadfast support and cooperation during this challenging period,” the statement read.

The issue traces back to a February 1 incident when shots were reportedly fired outside Shetty’s home. The Bishnoi gang is said to have claimed responsibility, prompting the filmmaker to seek enhanced security from Mumbai Police due to concerns for his safety and that of his team.
