KARACHI: Police on Wednesday arrested Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P)leader Saleem Shahzad from jail, ARY News reported.

Shahzad, who was already in jail in a terrorism facilitation case was arrested by Khokhrapar police in a case pertaining to disruption of public order.

Shahzad was arrested in February at the Jinnah International Airport upon his return to the country, which ended his two-decade-long self-imposed exile.

According to the prosecution, Shahzad, when with the MQM, had facilitated suspected terrorists injured in clashes with law enforcers at Ziauddin Hospitals in Clifton and North Nazimabad.

He was among many MQM leaders who had distanced themselves with the party founder Altaf Hussain following his Aug 14, 2016’s “anti-Pakistan” speech.

A week after MQM founder Altaf Hussain speech that stirred a hornet’s nest in Pakistan, Shahzad announced to return to Pakistan with an aim to ‘strengthen’ MQM’s breakaway faction – MQM Pakistan – led by party leader Farooq Sattar.
