Salman Iqbal seeks one PSL playoff in Karachi

KARACHI: Owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings and CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal on Wednesday said one of the last three playoffs of PSL should be held in Karachi, however he consented that the final match should be played in Lahore, ARY News reported.
“I have asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hold one of the last three playoffs in Karachi,” he said while talking to the host of ARY News program Off The Record.
He said the Chief Minister of Sindh, Corps Commander Karachi and Director General Sindh Rangers have guaranteed complete security for the match in Karachi.

To a query, Salman Iqbal said foreign players are inconclusive about playing in Pakistan. Many of them, including Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara, West Indian Chris Gayle and England’s Ravi Bopara, have though agreed and are excited about playing in the country, however, their cricket boards are not giving them permission to travel to Pakistan.
He said the PCB should hold talks with the relevant cricket boards to let them play the final of the league in Pakistan.
To another query, the owner of Karachi Kings said PSL has garnered super popularity and people are impatiently waiting for its second edition.
“The second edition of PSL incorporates more international players, including from England and Australia,” he said.

All-rounder Shoaib Malik said during his tour to Bangladesh for Bangladesh Premier League, he had asked international cricket players to visit Pakistan.
“I have tried with full responsibility to convince international players to play in Pakistan. Some are likely to visit our homeland,” he said.
Owner of Lahore Qalandars Fawad Rana also agreed with the views of Karachi Kings’ owner about holding final PSL match in Lahore.
