Sartaj addresses Senate on drone attacks, ties with different states

ISLAMABAD: PM’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has said that Pakistan’s terms with the United States (US) and Iran are being led in the right direction, while its relations with Afghanistan have also improved. He added that it is the first priority of the Government to moderate ties with India – ARY News reports.

Addressing the session of the Senate on Wednesday, Sartaj told that a resolution suggesting the due consideration of the human rights in drone attacks is going to be passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN). He added that this resolution will support Pakistan’s stance on these spy attacks.

Speaking about Afghanistan situation, he stated that the forceful domination of Afghanistan by the Taliban there is not in the interest of Pakistan, no group is our favorite and nobody will be allowed to lodge a proxy-war in pursuance of the power game there.

Commenting about India, the Advisor on Foreign Affairs told that the Indian Government has been informed clearly that if it gains votes by provoking anti-Pakistan sentiments, then the bilateral ties among the two states will not improve.

He added that talks are ongoing with the Indian Government on Kashmir and Siachin issues.

Meanwhile, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani demanded the Government of Pakistan to clear its position on the execution of Abdul Qadir Mulla by Bangladeshi authorities.

He said that there is a difference in the statements of the Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan and the Federal Interior Minister, it should be elaborated that whose statement is true.
