KARACHI: A citizen, Obaid, has lodged a complaint against the Station House Officer (SHO) Sarwar ‘Commando’ for torturing, taking bribe and illegal confinement at the Sindh Home Department on Friday, ARY News reported.
Obaid said in his plea that police personnel had stopped him during snap checking in the jurisdiction of Ferozabad Police Station, when he was traveling in a car along with his friend and seized his lincensed pistol and Rs60,000.
The citizen said that they tortured him over resistance and took him to the Ferozabad Police Station, where SHO Sarwar Commando again tortured him and sought bribe worth Rs500,000.
Obaid said that after keeping him in brief illegal confinement, he was released but his licensed pistol and Rs60,000 were not returned.
The Sindh home department took notice of the citizen’s complaint and wrote letters to the DIG and SSP seeking action over the complaint according to the law. The DIG West on the direction of home department asked SSP Dr Farooq to submit an inquiry report into the issue within two days.

Earlier, police in Karachi had arrested a fellow police officer for releasing a robbery suspect after accepting Rs0.4million as bribe on November 3.
According to details, former station house officer of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station Rao Umair had been arrested along with his aide, former head constable Riaz Ahmed, for releasing a bank robbery suspect named Waseem after accepting hefty bribe.
