Former chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar had challenged the verdict of the special court in Pervez Musharraf treason case.

A three member bench, headed by Justice Azmat Saeed Khosa said that the special court was formed on the request of the federal government for trial of former president Pervez Mushrraf only and that the special court should remain confined to the given mandate.

The bench also ruled that the special court could not try anyone other than Musharraf. The bench directed the special court to complete the trial of the accused as soon as possible without further delay.

The court also observed that the order of proclamation of emergency in 2007 was issued with the signatures of Pervez Musharraf only, hence there was no clear evidence if the co-accused were involved in the matter or not.

The bench had reserved its judgment in the case after completion of arguments, which announced today.

A special tribunal headed by Justice Faisal Arab in a directive to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on November 27, 2015 to investigate and submit a report about the role of former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and others in proclamation of November 3, 2007 emergency in the country.

Moreover, Pervez Mushrraf in a plea to Supreme Court has sought permission to go abroad for medical treatment. In his petition the former President has prayed to the apex court to remove his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
