Security forces foil 'major terror plot' in Parachinar: ISPR

KURRAM AGENCY: Pakistan Army foiled a major terror plot in the tribal Agency after seizing an explosive-laden vehicle that was possibly to be used in a terror attack, ARY News reported.

According to Inter-Services of Public Relations (ISPR) – the media wing of Pakistan Army – the vehicle was to be used as improvised explosive device (IED) at Parachinar city, the chief town of Kurram tribal region, or surrounding areas either against civilians or law enforcement agencies.

In a statement, it was said an alert had been issued earlier in March about a vehicle carrying explosive and the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were chasing after it when it finally captured on May 11 (Thursday).

However, the statement did not share any further information about any possible arrest made in this regard.

It is worth mentioning here that on March 31, at least 22 people were killed and dozens injured when a car bomb ripped through a market in Parachinar.

The attack came after a wave of militant violence killed 130 people across Pakistan in February, unnerving citizens who had been emboldened by improving security and prompting a military crackdown.
