When Shafqat Amanat Ali and Naseeruddin Shah come together for a song, you can expect a masterpiece for sure.

The latest song from the talented, melodious singer was released a couple of days ago, with Naseeruddin Shah in the video. The song is inspired and based on the ghazal by the renowned poet Nasir Kazmi and is an ode by a sad lover for his beloved. Shafqat is not the only singer to have brought the words to life in a soulful melody, though. Renowned Pakistani singer Madam Noor Jehan and Indian singer Pankhaj Udaas have also delivered renditions of the ghazal earlier.

Naseeruddin Shah is seen to be playing a black piano expertly, moving his fingers along the keys whilst Shafqat Amanat Ali pours his heart out and brings the melancholy lyrics of the ghazal to life. The scene skips to another room in which Naseeruddin is dabbling with another musical instrument (a violin to be precise) whilst Shafqat Amanat Ali continues to deliver the goods, with his voice.

In the video, Naseeruddin Shah is seen to be wearing a badge which has Madam Noor Jehan’s picture on it. The act is obviously a tribute to the legendary singer, who as mentioned above, also sang the ghazal during her lifetime. Speaking to a local website, this is what Shafqat Amanat Ali had to say about the song:-

“Today the scene is such that contemporary music will pull you towards itself. But I have been brought up differently. I do not shy away from contemporary music, but I implement most of my learning through the independent projects I work on.”

For all those who think Shafqat Amanat Ali’s voice is music to the ears, should definitely lend a listening ear to the track. Once again, Shafqat pulls off contemporary music with finesse and Naseeruddin Shah can rest on his laurels, since he always gives in a hundred percent!
