Sharif family terms JIT's findings biased in reply submitted to SC

ISLAMABAD: Voicing reservations on Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s findings in its report submitted on July 10, the Sharif family has submitted its objections to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday.

The Sharifs’ legal team has filed the objections in the court, rejecting the report in its entirety. It termed the findings biased, politically motivated and an attempt to tarnish the image of the prime minister and his family while pleading to judges to nullify the report while claiming the investigators worked beyond their mandate.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also filed his objections to the report, raising his concerns on the JIT report.

The JIT has charged the ruling family with perjury, having disproportionate income and living beyond their means in its final report. It said Sharif failed to satisfactorily answer most of the questions put to him during his appearance before investigators on June 15.

Following the report’s submission, the special bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, issued notices to all parties to submit their responses.

The opposition parties demanded the premier to tender resignation. However, the ruling party leaders remarked that they will contest the ‘concocted’ report in the Supreme Court.
