Domestic Violence: In-laws shave woman's head in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a woman’s head was allegedly shaved by her in-laws in Ahmedpur Sharqia subdivision of Bahawalpur district, ARY News reported on Monday.

Safia, a mute woman, who, along with her family members is staging protest in Ahmedpur Sharqia, claims that she wants justice as she was not only severely tortured by her in-laws but they also shaved her head over some minor domestic dispute.

Accompanied only be her family, the physically challenged woman, uses sign language to narrate her ordeal while her mother and family members say that she was repeatedly beaten in her husband’s home and they had to take to streets for they crossed all limits and shaved her head.

“My poor daughter was tortured by her in-laws, we also approached police but they are not helping us,” Safia’ mother told media.

Holding Safia’s hair in her hands, she demanded of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the incident and direct authorities to provide justice to the physically challenged woman.
