SHC grants protective bail plea of Agha Siraj's alleged frontman

KARACHI: A bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday approved protective bail of Gulzar Ahmed, an alleged front man of detained Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, ARY News reported.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice SHC Ahmed Ali Sheikh and also comprises of Justice Omar Sial, approved protective bail of Gulzar Ahmed for 10 days in his absence for Rs. Two Lac surety.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has no objection over the protective bail to the accused, the law officer immigration told the court. “The name of the accused is already included in the exit control list (ECL),” the law officer said.

Earlier, the counsel of the petitioner argued that Gulzar Ahmed was in the United States, while he was aware of the probe against Agha Siraj Durrani and his name in the investigation through news and wants to come back to Pakistan, he fears he would be arrested.

He pleaded the court that his client’s protective bail should be accepted in his absence.

The court approved protective bail of Gulzar Ahmed for 10 days in his absence for Rs. Two Lac surety.

The NAB had arrested Agha Siraj Durrani from Islamabad on Feb 20 over an inquiry into his assets.
