LAHORE:  Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday released a short video through his official Facebook page to dispel the impression that Pashtuns in the province are being discriminated against or harassed due to their ethnicity.

The video showcases Pashtun shopkeepers and businessmen from Lahore who are working and going by their normal business in the city and have literally no complaints against law enforcement officials or the government.

The shopkeepers who were from Lahore’s Bohar Wala Chowk and Auriga Center spoke in one voice to dispel the impression that Pakhtuns living legally in the province are being arrested or harassed.

It is pertinent to note here that social media is ripe with a number of internet users claiming what they call ‘racial-profiling’ of Pashtuns in the province during the current anti-terror operation.

The video released by CM Punjab also features Malik Kamran, the president of ‘Anjuman-e-Tajiran-e-Punjab’, a traders body, who also denied any wrongdoing by authorities or other shopkeepers against Pakhtun traders in the province.
