KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman on Tuesday congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi on being elected as president of Pakistan.
“May his (Arif’s) time as the president be a good one for Pakistan,” she wrote on her social media account.
However, she hailed PPP candidate for the presidential poll Aitzaz Ahsan as one of the finest and most learned people.
“For me, it was a privilege to cast my vote today for one of the finest, most learned, progressive, wise, creative, renaissance men that is Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan. Have been lucky to know him,” she wrote.

The two chambers of the Parliament – National Assembly and Senate – and four provincial assemblies elected Arif Alvi as 13th president of Pakistan with a sizable majority.
Dr. Arif ur Rehman Alvi is a founding member and former secretary general of the PTI. He was born on August 29, 1949.
