Four siblings die as roof collapses in Nankana Sahib

NANKANA SAHIB: At least four members of a family were killed while two others sustained injuries when the roof of their house collapsed in a neighborhood of Nankana Sahib district of Punjab, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Rescue sources said the roof of a dilapidated building collapsed in Shahkot tehsil owing to rainfall, burying the family members under the debris.

Four dead bodies and two injured were pulled out from the debris, a rescue official said.

After being informed of the incident, rescue teams rushed to the site and began rescue operation with the help of the residents of the area to rescue the trapped people.

The dead bodies and injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Shahkot.

A rescuer said those killed in the incident included three male members of the family, while among the injured were their mother and a sister.

In a similar incident on December 9,  a woman and her daughter were died while her son had sustained injuries when the roof of their house had caved in.

In October, at least six people were killed and five others had sustained injuries in a roof collapse incident in Bajaur Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA).

The incident had occurred in Khaar town of the tribal region. All the deceased and injured belonged to the same family.
