The amendment in the law transfers the powers of the provincial government to the Election Commission of Pakistan to enable it to carry out the delimitation work for the local bodies polls in the province.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan in a recent hearing had expressed its annoyance on Tuesday that for the past several months, the Sindh and Punjab governments were delaying the passage of the laws for extending powers to the election commission to conduct the delimitation for local government elections in provinces.
