SANGHAR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that with the assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB) his government has started construction of 331- kilometre long six important roads at a cost of Rs15,561 million.
“This would bring an important revolution in the development of road infrastructure in three divisions, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas of Sindh,” he said while talking to media after visiting under-construction Sanghar to Mirpurkhas via Sindhri Road here at Sindhri.
He was accompanied by Minister for Works Imdad Pitafi, Chairman PAC Saleem Jalbani, local MPAs, Senator Hari Ram and others.
Sanghar To Mirpurkhas via Sindhri, a 63 KM long road, is being constructed by a Chinese firm at a cost of Rs2,485 million.
Chief minister said that the road was shambles, therefore he has taken it up under Sindh Road Improvement Program.
“The work is going on war footing,” he said and directed the minister works to continue its work in the night shift till Sehri. “This is the only way to complete it in time,” he said.
This road is scheduled to be completed in June 2018.
Later, the chief minister flew to Digri on helicopter to inspect ‘Digri-Naukot Road’. This road is being constructed by a Chinese company at a cost of Rs3,358 million. It is a 54 KM long road and connecting hundreds of small villages and towns located between Digri-Naukot.
After Digri the chief minister visited Khyber to Mirpurkhas via Tando Adam Road. This is a 64-KM Road being constructed by a Chinese company for Rs2,802 million.
The chief minister said that it was commitment with people of Sindh to provide them good road infrastructure apart from working for betterment of educational and health services.
Murad Ali Shah later moved to Gupchani where he inspected progress of Nawabshah- Sanghar Road.
It may be noted that the other schemes being executed under Sindh Provincial Road Improvement programme are Thul to Kandhkot Road. This is a 44 KM road being constructed for Rs2,065 millions . The fifth road is 36 KM Sheranpur to Ratodero which is being constructed for Rs1,450 million.
The chief minister urged the local elected people to facilitate the contractor to construct the road in two shifts and simultaneously monitor pace and quality of the works.
