Sindh govt annuls NTS entry test for medical colleges

KARACHI: The entry test for admission in public sector medical colleges and universities in Sindh conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) on October 22 has been annulled.

This was confirmed by a notification issued by the Health Department on Saturday stating that the admission test was cancelled on the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

CM Sindh issued the directives on the recommendations of an inquiry committee constituted by the health department which reportedly found irregularities in conducting the test.

The test will held within fifteen days through the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Karachi, who is advised to follow the standard operation procedures (SOPs) for conducting the entry test in letter and spirit.

The NTS is reeling from multiple scandals. On October 30, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) raided the offices of NTS in Islamabad to probe operational irregularities.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have launched separate probes alleging that NTS leaked the paper for admission in medial colleges and universities in Sindh.

Subsequently, CM Sindh had also formed a five-member inquiry committee to investigate allegations of irregularities following widespread protests by candidates in the province.
