Sindh govt bans sale of copies, uniforms, stationary, books by private schools

KARACHI: Sindh Education Department on Friday banned sale of copies, school uniforms, stationary and books at private schools across the province, ARY News reported.

Taking notice of the sale of copies, school uniforms, stationary and books at exorbitant prices by private schools, the Sindh government has issued a notification banning their sale.

The government has constituted inspection teams to ensure imposition of the ban.

The notification warned that strict action would be taken against the schools selling copies, school uniforms, stationary and books. It said the private schools were charging at least four percent more than the actual prices of copies, school uniforms, stationary and books.

The notification said parents of schoolchildren could now buy school uniforms, copies, books and stationary from market.

On the flip side, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued directives to private schools to return vacations’ fee collected from the students.

The directives were issued by the Private Schools Regulatory Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The notification, issued in this regard, called upon schools to return fee of winter and summer vacations to parents. The order further said no service charges should be collected as well.

Strict action will be taken against schools found flouting the order, the notification added.
