Sindh police involvement in Iranian oil smuggling unveiled

KARACHI: The Sindh police involvement in the smuggling of Iranian oil and non-custom paid vehicles has been unveiled, ARY News reported on Saturday.  

As per details, 28 police personnel has been suspended including SHOs after the revelations of police involvement in the Iranian oil and non-custom paid vehicles smuggling at the direction of IG Sindh.

The suspended police personnel includes officers from Jacobabad, Kashmur, Shikarpur and Sukkur. 

To investigate the incident, the IG Sindh has constituted a committee, which will be headed by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Imran Yaqub. DIG crime branch Amir Farooqui and SSP Dadu Abdul Khaliq Peerzada are also included in the committee.

Earlier, a bid to smuggle 31,000 litres of Iranian diesel was foiled by Karachi police officials by seizing a tanker near Northern By-pass.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) East had told the media that a tanker was stopped at Northern By-pass on a tip-off. The illegal consignment was seized on a truck containing 31,000 litres of Iranian diesel which were being smuggled to Karachi.
