Sochi Olympics: Norway leads medals table with 10 golds

SOCHI: Norway rose to top in the medals table of the 2014 Winter Olympics after winning 10 gold medals here in Sochi, ARY News reports on Friday.

The Winter Olympics will come to a close on 23rd February but athletes are still competing to win medals for their nation. Norway leads the medals count after they increased their gold medal tally to 10 in the Olympics.

In the Women's Ice Hockey Final, Canada edged past United States 3-2 in overtime to win their fourth consecutive gold medal in ice hockey event of the Olympic Games. Switzerland defeated Sweden 4-3 after coming back from a 2-0 deficit to clinch the bronze medal.

Adelina Sotnikova helped Russia win the gold medal in Figure Skating Ladies Individual event as she won the competition with a score of 224.59. Yuna Kim of South Korea bagged the silver medal with her score of 219.11 and Carolina Kostner of Italy took home the bronze medal after scoring 216.73.

Maddie Bowman of the United States won the Freestyle Skiing Ladies' Ski Halfpipe competition with her score of 89.00 whereas France's Marie Martinod won the silver and Ayana Onozuka of Japan stood on podium at third position.

Norway is on top of the medals table of the 2014 Winter Olympics with 10 golds followed by United States and Germany with their  8 gold medals each.
