Soldier martyred during North Waziristan IBO: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: A 23-year-old soldier was martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the security forces conducted an operation in Mir Ali Tehsil of KP’s North Waziristan district on information of the presence of terrorists.

A heavy exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists took place during the operation. “During the exchange of fire, 23-year-old Sepoy Waheed Khan of Nowshera embraced martyrdom,” the ISPR added.

The military’s media wing further said that the operation continues for the arrest of possible terrorists in the area.

Earlier in July, security forces killed three terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

According to the ISPR, the intelligence-based operation was conducted in Ghulam Khan Kalay area of North Waziristan district on the reported presence of terrorists.

It said that during an exchange of fire three terrorists got killed while the security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists. “The killed terrorists remained actively involved in militant activities against security forces,” the military’s media wing said.
