Waseemullah was enrolled as BSc student at the Nursing School of AKU this year.
According to sources, the student was depressed for some time and was not attending the classes for couple of days. He lived at the AKU hostel in the campus and originally hailed from Gilgit.
His fellow students say he was good at studies. He was founded hanged with a ceiling fan at his hostel room at around 10pm on Wednesday.
Police was called to the university after the student was found dead. The body was later moved to AKU morgue after medico-legal formalities.
A nursing examination scheduled for has been postponed and educational activities will remain suspended in AKU medical colleges and nursing school.
On April 6, 2010, a similar incident had taken place in the AKUH when a second year medical student hailing from Chitral committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at the hostel. He was identified as Ishfaq Hussain and had left a four-page suicide note in the dorm room.
Last year in Karachi, a teenage schoolboy had committed suicide after his parents allegedly refused a love-marriage.

The unfortunate incident had taken place at a private school in Patel Para when a 16-year-old Noorul Hadi took out a pistol during assembly in the morning and shot his paramour Saba Bashir, before shooting himself on Tuesday morning (September 1). They both died on the spot.
Police said another letter was found from the class wherein the boy had asked girl to bring pistol of his father.
