Swine flu death toll rises to 12 in Punjab

In last couple of days, four people have died with one belonging to D.I. Khan and Muzaffargarh, while two from Multan.

Three of the deceased persons were women. Health officials said at least 33 people had been tested positive for swine flu in different parts of the province.

Following the directives of Punjab government, special units of dengue at hospitals have been designated for swine flu patients for a period of 30 days.

Our correspondent reported that the Punjab government had not yet launched any awareness campaign in the province.

Meanwhile, authorities have issued a swine flu alert in Karachi and called for precautionary measures to contain the disease.

Swine flu is a contagious disease as its germs can be transmitted via the infected person’s sneeze or cough. Swine flu infects with ease those whose immune system is weak.   Swine flu also affects children more than adults.
