The cast of Euphoria is mourning the loss of their co-star Eric Dane, who died Thursday at age 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Sydney Sweeney – who played Cassie Howard on the HBO drama – paid tribute to the late actor on her Instagram Stories by sharing a clip from Dane’s final video message to his daughters from the Netflix series Famous Last Words. She sweetly wrote, “Forever will love you,” alongside a red heart emoji.
Fellow cast member Barbie Ferreira also reposted the emotional clip to her Instagram Stories, adding a simple white heart in remembrance of the actor.
Eric Dane was widely recognized for his portrayal of Cal Jacobs, the troubled father of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, on the hit series.
Series creator Sam Levinson expressed his grief in a statement, calling Dane a dear friend. “Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift,” he said, adding that Dane’s family remains in his prayers.
Following Eric Dane’s sad demise, HBO also released a statement saying it was “deeply saddened” by the actor’s passing and praised his talent, noting the network was fortunate to have worked with him across multiple seasons of the acclaimed drama.
Eric Dane is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their daughters, Billie and Georgia.
