MUMBAI: A teenage girl was molested on a busy street of India’s Mumbai city and was badly beaten up after she protested, ARY News reported on Saturday.
The incident, which was captured on a CCTV camera, took place on October 17. In the video, the accused is seen molesting and beating up the girl in front of a number of people who stood there as mute spectators. The victim gets slapped multiple times before she falls on the ground.

The 16-year-old girl filed a complaint about assault with the Nehru Nagar Police station after she was beaten up in public.
“I was going to my class. These boys were inside an auto and were passing lewd comments. They often pass such remarks. When I told them to stop, they argued with me. One of them punched me in the face and I fainted,” she told an Indian news channel.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was found to have suffered a nose fracture.
India has a grim record of sexual assaults on minors, with 20,000 cases reported in 2015, according to government data.
It strengthened its laws on sexual violence after the fatal gang-rape of a Delhi student in 2012 caused global outrage, but attacks are still widespread.
