Ten inspiring quotes of Quaid-e-Azam

The 140th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being celebrated across the country. Following are the ten inspiring sayings of the supreme Pakistani leader.

1. We are now all Pakistanis–not Balochis, Pathans, Sindhis, Bengalis, Punjabis and so on–and as Pakistanis we must feet behave and act, and we should be proud to be known as Pakistanis and nothing else. (In a reply to Civic Address on June 15, 1948)

2. The story of Pakistan, its struggle and its achievement, is the very story of great human ideals, struggling to survive in the face of great odds and difficulties. (Address at Chittagong on March 23, 1948)

3. My guiding principle will be justice and complete impartiality, and I am sure that with your support and co-operation, I can look forward to Pakistan becoming one of the greatest Nations of the world. (Address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947)

4. There is no power on earth that can undo Pakistan. (Lahore Address on October 30, 1947)

6. No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners. There is no sanction anywhere for the deplorable condition in which our women have to live. (In an address to the Muslim University Union in 1944)

7. Finally, let me tell you, fellow citizens, Pakistan is a land of great potential resources. But to build it up into a country worthy of the Muslim nation, we shall require every ounce of energy that we possess and I am confident that it will come from all whole-heartedly. (In a broadcast message in 1947)

8. With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve. (Addressing Ack Ack regiments in Karachi on February 21, 1948)

9. It is in your hands to put the Government in power or remove the Government from power, but you must not do it by mob methods. You have the power; you must learn the art to use it; you must try and understand the machinery. Constitutionally, it is in your hands to upset one Government and put another Government in power if you are dissatisfied to such an extent. (In a public meeting at Dhaka on 21st March, 1948)

10. Grave political issues cannot be settled by the cult of the knife, or by gangsterism. There are parties and parties, but the difference between them cannot be resolved by attacks on Party leaders. Nor can political views by altered by the threats of violence.
