The person who made Rs 10bn offer lives in Lahore, claims Imran

KARACHI: Arriving in Karachi to lead a rally due today (Sunday), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said that the person who offered him Rs 10 billion to stay silent on Panamagate case is a businessman based in Lahore, ARY News reported.

He was talking to media persons outside Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

The PTI chief said if he revealed the name of the person he would confront similar challenges which others had faced on defiance.

“Rs 10 billion was just the starting amount of the offer”, he reiterated, adding, the middleman was also offered Rs two billion for successful negotiations.

Khan said over revelation of the name, the person could face stern action as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not a democratic party. “They are fascist who came in power with help of a military dictator”, he added.

Predicting the ultimate fate of the premier, he opined that all PML-N leaders including the workers would abandon Nawaz Sharif very next day if his government toppled.

“He has no moral jurisdiction after Panamagate verdict to continue his office as he failed to vindicate himself in money laundering and other corruption charges”, Khan said.

He lambasted the ruling party and other associates of the premier for safeguarding the prime suspect in Newsgate scandal and scapegoating others.

In a response to a question over Interior Minister’s remarks that institutions should not communicate through tweets, Khan said that Hillary Clinton defeated in US presidential election on just an email by giving an impression that one cannot isolate himself from global practicing trends.

Talking to media, Khan also talked about ‘Huqooq-e-Karachi’ rally.

“Once Karachi was known to be the city of lights but now the city is facing myriads of issues related to garbage, water, and power load-shedding”, he said.

He also said that the PTI rally aimed to raise awareness among the masses by mobilizing them over ongoing civic issues. “The city’s most revenue goes to Dubai and other foreign cities”, he added.

“The people of Karachi must take to the streets today to give an effective message to the provincial government”, he said.
