‘The world is now accepting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir': Qureshi

LONDON: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said the ‘real face’ of India was now being exposed after protests at global level condemning brutality of Indian forces on unarmed Kashmiris in the occupied valley, ARY News reported Tuesday.

Speaking to ARY News, the foreign minister said the world was now accepting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir.

“Protests against atrocities in the occupied Kashmir are now being held in different European cities”, he said, adding that previously protests would only held in Pakistan on Feb 5 every year, but now they’ve extended to the world.

He said the British Parliament had also endorsed Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue.

“Pakistan’s clamours against oppression on Kashmiris were falling on deaf ears,” Qureshi said, adding that now the human rights commission report on abuses in the occupied Kashmir was also public which detailed grim reality of the situation.

He said peace could only prevail in region if the neighbouring countries had good relations.

“Pakistan is ready for the talks but India runs away from it all the time”, said the minister. He said India must now review its Kashmir policy.

“Even the world is calling upon India and Pakistan to sit together and hold talks on Kashmir,” Qureshi said.

He underlined that Kashmir was a core dispute between India and Pakistan. The foreign minister said situation in occupied Kashmir was now deteriorating rapidly.

“Now voices from within India are being raised for the rights of Kashmiris”, he stated. Qureshi said all political parties of Pakistan were united on the issue of Kashmir.

He paid tributes to the mothers, sisters, sons from Kashmir who rendered sacrifices for freedom.
