TikTok has announced a new partnership with the fan connection app Cameo, which will allow TikTok creators to monetize custom videos directly within the app. This integration will simplify the process for creators, enabling them to charge for personalized content through Cameo’s video message request system.
Given the increasing popularity of TikTok creators, this collaboration could create a valuable connection between the two platforms. As TikTok explains, “TikTok creators are among the fastest-growing talent segments on Cameo, using the site to turn fan engagement into meaningful revenue streams.”
With this partnership, TikTok is streamlining the process for fans to request Cameo videos.
The integration will simplify the process for TikTok creators to sign up for Cameo and start charging for custom video clips. Additionally, it will allow creators to add personalized call-to-action buttons to their content, enabling viewers to request customized Cameo videos without leaving the app.
TikTok will also facilitate the discovery of Cameo creators by providing a custom listing of those who have joined the platform. This listing will be accessible when TikTok users search for “Cameo” within the app.
Cameo has experienced a notable increase in social media stars signing up since it expanded its CameoX onboarding process to include more creators in late 2024. By lowering the barriers to entry, Cameo has enabled more individuals to monetize custom clips, aiming to increase interest in the app. According to TechCrunch, Cameo has faced a significant decline in usage in recent years.
This new integration has the potential to attract more TikTok stars to Cameo, thus expanding Cameo’s client base. This could be mutually beneficial, helping both TikTok creators and Cameo increase their revenue.
Furthermore, offering an additional path to monetization may incentivize TikTok’s top creators to continue posting on the platform.
