GUJRAT: Two suspected terrorists of a proscribed outfit were killed in a gun battle with Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel during a raid at Gurali village of Gujrat on Wednesday night.
According to CTD, the raid was carried out on an intelligence tip-off about presence of militants, affiliated with a banned organization, planning a terror attack.
As the CTD personnel began to besiege the hideout, the terrorists resorted to firing at them. In subsequent exchange of fire two terror suspects were killed while three others managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness, said CTD spokesperson in a statement.
Huge cache of arms and ammunition, besides explosives and hand grenades were recovered during the raid, the spokesperson added.
However, the identities of slain terrorists could be ascertained so far.
It is pertinent to mention here that a week ago police killed four terrorists in an encounter in Faisalabad.
