ISLAMABAD: Baffled by Supreme Court’s assurance to General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif crossly asked about the clause of the constitution that can permit a person like Musharraf to contest in elections.

Nawaz Shairf was talking outside the accountability court on Friday where he expressed his reservations over apex court’s handling of Musharraf’s disqualification case.

“It is beyond my understanding that how can you conditionally allow a person like Musharraf to file nomination papers for upcoming elections where on the other hand the very person is accused in a high treason case,” Nawaz said while sternly criticizing top court’s decision.

He angrily questioned that how a person can be superior to law and the constitution. “I have been disqualified for life. I am not even being granted three days exemption from the case hearing to visit my ailing wife,” he complained.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader snapped that former president Musharraf breached the constitution twice and has been involved in Bugti murder case, house arrest of judges and the12 May incident in Karachi, yet he is given assurance that he will not be arrested upon his return to the country. “Where is Article 6 now?” he asked.

“I and other sensible people are completely overwhelmed by bewilderment to behold the leniency granted to an accused [Pervez Musharraf]” Nawaz Sharif remarked.
