Renowned Pakistani actress Urwa Hocane schooled Veere di Wedding supporting actress Swara Bhasker over her criticism of Pakistan in a recent interview.
On social media, a video of Bhasker emerged in which an interviewer asked about her views on the ban on Veere di Wedding screening in Pakistan. To which, the actor had this to say: “And why should we hold Pakistan, a failing state as a keep taking pleasure and a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that are happening in Pakistan.”
Urwa Hocane was quick to respond to Bhasker’s degrading comments and took to Twitter to give a slamming rejoinder.
She also reminded Tanu Weds Manu actress about her comments from 2015, where she called Pakistan the “best country that she had ever visited”.
Hocane then also helped Bhaskar recall, how India had recently banned its own film Padmavat.
“And all of this is odd coming from a citizen of a state that bans their own films i.e. #Padmavat so let’s not talk about women empowerment,” Hocane wrote.
Hocane then dubbed Swara to be a “failing human being” for her contradictory statements regarding Pakistan.
Earlier this week, the film was banned by the censor board in Pakistan due to its “vulgar content”. The film starring Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in leading roles is set to release on June 1.
