State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said the United States has been in contact with Pakistan and India to encourage the two South Asian countries to resolve their tensions.

The spokesperson was responding to a question at the daily briefing, after Islamabad reported another death and at least a dozen more wounded in Indian shelling at the working boundary. The death toll in ceasefire violations has reached 12.

The State Department earlier said it was concerned about violence along the Line of Control and urged the two countries try to resolve tensions and disputes through dialogue.

The spokesperson denied any change in the US policy over Kashmir stressing the need of dialogue to seek solution of problems.

“We still believe that the pace, scope, and character of India and Pakistan’s dialogue on Kashmir is for these two countries to determine.”
