Video footage of policeman firing on citizen in Faisalabad surfaces

FAISALABAD: Video footage of firing by a police official and his accomplice on an unarmed citizen in Faisalabad has surfaced on Saturday, ARY News reported.

The police constable Naeem and his accomplice Shehroze opened fire on the citizen on property dispute in Professor Colony.

The surveillance camera footage shows Naeem riding a motorbike and then parking it before a shop. Suspect Shehroze could be seen fleeing on a bike while opening fire.

Police have failed to apprehend the suspects even after passage of two months.

Victim Danish said Civil Lines police station had lodged an FIR against him despite surfacing of footage of the firing incident.

Danish said two matriculation students Usman and Talha were also nominated in the FIR.

The affectee has sought protection from the inspector general of Punjab saying that constable Naeem was giving him life threats.

On January 5, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Sharjeel Kharal had suspended the Defence police station’s SHO Maqsood Raza in the wake of the alleged death of a citizen in police custody.

A man identified as Qaim Ali had died in the Defence area under mysterious circumstances on January 2.  According to the police, a citizen, Tariq Mustafa, had informed them that his driver suffered a heart attack while sitting in his car outside his home and sought police’s help to shift him to a hospital.
