Virat Kohli is one of the batting greats in the contemporary cricket and he’s evolving to perfection with every game he plays.  The Indian skipper no more seems reticent in sharing his unpopular opinion – be it praise for his opponent.

In an interview with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan the other day, Kohli was asked to name the best bowler and the most feared one he had ever faced.

In reply, the Indian captain said: “I think Mohammad Amir is the best bowler I’ve faced in international cricket…

“He (Amir) is one of the toughest bowlers to play”

…In the recent times, Mohammad Amir of Pakistan.. He is in the top two or three bowlers in the world and the toughest bowlers I have played in my career. You have to be on your ‘A’ Game when you’re facing him or he will strike. Outstanding! Very good bowler!”

Kohli had also praised Amir at the time of the Asia Cup in 2016 when he said, “I would like to complement Mohammad Amir for the way he bowled. I actually congratulated him while he was bowling. I was so happy to play such an amazing spell. He is a world class bowler” and the Indian skipper gifted his bat to the Pakistan seamer as well.

Surprinsly, when Amir was recently asked to name his favourite batsman, it turned out to be none other than Virat Kohli.

Amir, who recently organised a chat session on his Twitter account, was asked to name his favourite current best batsman, to which left-arm pacer wrote “Virat Kohli”.

The 25-year-old reiterated his statement by replying to another tweet that asked him who among Joe Root, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Kohli was the current best batsman. In response, the left-arm pacer wrote, “They all are but personally Virat Kohli.”

In the recently held ICC Champions Trophy final, Amir wreaked havoc and ripped the heart out of the solid Indian batting line-up with his devastating opening spell, in which he took the priced scalps of India’s top three – Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma.

Eventually, Pakistan went on win their maiden Champions Trophy title as they defeated Kohli’s men by 180 runs.

After Kohli’s praise for Amir in the Asia Cup, Amir was overwhelmed and he later remarked: “Kohli’s praise made my day. It was generous of him what he said for me. It’s the sort of encouragement that you need and when it comes from a superstar like Virat, it means a lot. On the other hand, it’s a big challenge for me as well because it adds to my responsibility to prove that I am worth that praise. Even before the match, he used some good words for me. It was very kind of him,” he had said.
