War of words ends: Govt, PTI finally embrace each other

According to details, a meeting between representatives of the two sides held consultation regarding the formation of the commission on Friday.

Addressing the media afterwards, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government and the PTI agreed upon four points describing the procedure of formation and powers of the judicial commission.

He added that PTI demonstrated enough flexibility regarding the issue.

Dar said that the two sides are also thankful to the political jirgah, whose efforts made it possible to reach a consensus.

PTI leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that democracy is the name of resolving the issues through talks. He said that in Pakistan questions are often raised over transparency of elections and the purpose of these talks was to ensure free and fair elections in future.

“We want a system which would be acceptable for everyone and which would also help flourishing democracy in the state,” said Qureshi.

On this occasion, PTI leader Jehangir Tareen read out the points agreed by both the sides. He elaborated that the commission will investigate the following things:

> Elections 2013 were held under the Article 3-218 of the constitution

> Whether the elections were tried to be influenced systematically

> Were the results in accordance with the mandate of the people

“The judicial commission will be authorized to seek assistance from the JIT or SIT, and the entire process of its formation will be completed within a week”, said Tareen.
